This research looks at the possibilities of designing and fabricating exploiting unstable material conditions. Specifically focusing on Viscous Thread Instability - the same process behind the complex patterns that form when honey drizzles onto a toast - this research introduces tools and strategies to harness such complex behavior to trigger the production of three-dimensional form and structure. Using feedback data from a robotic arm equipped with advanced sensors and actuators, this research introduces new methods to program the extrusion of complex foam-like objects.
