Kunst 2 teaches and researches in various areas of three-dimensional design with a strong focus on the investigation of physical materials as a means of design and creation. We are interested in a broad spectrum of sculptural design and operate at the interfaces of art, architecture and design. Experimentation and practical action are at the center of our work. In doing so, we always investigate the tension between analog techniques and contemporary technologies. Our research is both nationally and internationally oriented and is based on a broad network of institutions, researchers and designers. With regular exhibitions, symposia and lecture series as well as a lively publication activity, we create a lively forum for exchange, both with a specialist audience and with the general public.
The team of the Three-Dimensional Design and Model Making research area contributes its various skills to address the diverse issues of our research focus and integrate them into teaching. Artists and architects work together in close exchange and on an interdisciplinary basis. This intensive dialog results in innovative approaches and methods that are incorporated into teaching.
