A "Folly" is understood as an unusual decorative structure or architectural curiosity. This studio marks the transition from artistic exploration to technical realization by building on the conceptual foundations and material experiments of the previous semester. The course focuses on the rigorous development of a buildable 1:1 structure using innovative Flexible Mold technology to fabricate double-curved panels.

The semester begins with an intensive two-week Design Sprint structured as a short competition. This phase starts with a brief analysis of previous experimental results to identify the most promising concepts and technical solutions. Working either individually or in teams of two, students synthesize these ideas into cohesive design proposals. The sprint concludes with a formal presentation and review, leading to the selection of a single project. Following this jury selection, the studio enters the Realization Phase, where the entire student body merges into one large team to collectively develop the project toward its final, buildable state. This involves detailed engineering to resolve structural safety, material science research through 1:1 tests, and the refinement of fabrication logic for the mass customization of double-curved panels. The process is aimed at a production-ready design intended for implementation at the Jeddah Art Biennale or on the KAUST campus and may involve direct collaboration with industrial partners.
