The course teaches fundamental theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of photography and its application in the design and conception of an image. These goals are not necessarily pursued a priori, but rather arise during the process.
In the summer semester of 2026, the focus will be on analog photography (analog-digital-analog transformation, darkroom, cyanotype).
BLUEPRINT: FROM SPACE TO SURFACE
Cyanotype is a negative process that works through UV exposure. Objects or (photographic) negatives are positioned directly on light-sensitive surfaces. Photograms are created as 1:1 prints—as an index of three-dimensional bodies on the surface. Cyanotype allows the examination of scale, proportion, positive-negative relationships, and shadow casting, operating between precision and unpredictability—exposure time, material surface, and coloring influence the result and require experimental work.
In the workshop on the grounds of the Nicoloso brickworks, site-specific experiments and large-format works will be tested.
