As part of the “Digital Design and Production” module.
Theory in the field of model and prototype construction using CNC technologies. This includes an understanding of digital production technologies (additive, subtractive, molding) and their impact on the design process.
The module covers related topics of digital design and digital production. Geometry optimization and discretization are essential for computationally efficient and material-appropriate forms. Such designs can be generated using parametric modeling and programming methods. An overview of digital production methods will be presented. These are applied in a digital production project. Students deepen their digital design skills in an Advanced Parametric Modeling project. Selected focal points in digital design and production are researched and documented in Current Issues in Digital Design and Production.
