VERBLÄTTERT - DEVELOPMENT OF A PLANTOID BASED ON BOTANICAL AND ART HISTORICAL ANALYSIS OF THE LEAF

The idea for the project was developed based on a careful analysation of the plant as a symbol in the history of art, the structure of leaves and their biochemical processes in their tissue. The focus of the comparative research was on the morphology of a leaf and its various compositions of structure, structure and size which offer the source for the artistic interpretation. Nature offers a diversity that is difficult to capture with the human eye: the growing of leaves, the smell and the atmosphere. The drawings offer a way to describe these impressions. Inspired by the opening and closing of blossoms and leaves, a prototype for a plantoid was developed. That’s a synthetic organism that behaves like a plant’s organ. The kinematic leave reacts on movement with an individual change in its size. The structural system of the model offers analogies to a tree. A prospect for a future use of the concept in architecture could be a sun shading system for a front of a building.
